About

Greetings!

Pelican Hill Resort, Newport Coast, CA

So, it’s been said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Well, I’m on mission to do just that… cook my way to love. How, you ask? Good question. Right now, I’m taking it one dish at a time 😉  As for me, I’m an at-home, amateur chef extraordinaire who wants to share my own delicious dishes (and ones that I’ve found online & in various magazines), that I believe are worthy to be seen (and tasted) by the world. I’ve always had a passion for cooking and baking, and have so much more to learn, but am definitely having fun in the process. I am pretty health-conscious and “most” of my recipes will be geared towards lighter fare. However, sometimes I feel comfort food is essential to your well-being (or mine).  And sames goes for dessert!!  So, while a lot of my recipes will be guilt-free, there will be some that I recommend eating in moderation.

Take a look around and come back often… there’s lots more to come! Feel free to share/repost my recipes, but please link back to this blog when you do. If you have any questions or would like to get in touch with me, you may send me a (polite) email at denisesmith@yahoo.com.

Oh, and don’t forget to put your seatbelt on… your taste buds are going for a ride!

  2. Denise, This is great! What a great idea! Your recipes look and sound so good! I’m always looking for great tasting, easy, quick and healthy meals. My problem is right now having the time. It’s gardening season for me now so I’m so busy. Love the blog idea and would love to do a garden related one here in roch. Would love to know how you got this started! Good luck to you and hope you find your way to a man’s heart!

  3. Hollandaise! That’s the sauce I feared most when I was a chef many, many years ago. It wasn’t simple to keep the sauce from disintegrating throughout lunch hours. To this day I love to cook, albeit for friends only. Great blog!

    Have a beautiful day,
    Alexander

  5. It all look good enough to eat. Congratulations Denise. When you have a moment check out my friend’s web site “The mainly housekeeper”. You might get some good ideas for your blog. What’s next for you? Trying out for Master Chef??? I hope so.

  6. Hi Denise, We met at the 4th of July party. Awesome salad by the way.
I can’t wait to try out some of your recipes.
    Have a great weekend,
    Alicia

  7. I, too, am addicted to Lime-cilantro salad dressing! My question is: Can you freeze it? If so, how long can you freeze it for? I’d love to make batches, freeze small portions, and simply have it ready to go when I get a craving (which is frequent!). Thanks much! Peggy

    1. Hi Peggy, I haven’t tried freezing this dressing, but since it doesn’t contain any mayo (which can separate), I think it should be fine to freeze, just leave a little room at the top of the container for expansion. It should keep for up to six months. Hope that helps!

  8. Can you use no chocolate chip cookie dough and just use brownie mix on the bottom and Reeses in the middle and brownie mix on the top ?
I really like the idea of having more brownie in this “cookie”.
Have you tried this way? If so what adjustments on cooking time do you think?

  9. Hi! Your smoked salmon crostini look great! I’ll try it soon. You have a pic on your site that looks scrumptious! Looks like Melba rounds with some kind of meat topped with white maybe cram cheese snd topped with maybe red pepper sliced really thin? I’d love that recipe!!!

    1. Hi Linda! The smoked salmon crostini is awesome… I actually just made it for my friend’s birthday party, and everyone loved it. As for the cover picture above, that is an Herbed Goat Cheese & Roasted Red Pepper Olive Tapenade Crostini (my friend, Chef Jen’s recipe). I haven’t posted it on my blog as yet but will be happy to send it to you via email. You can email me at denisesmith@yahoo.com. Thanks for checking out my blog & recipes!
